Rokuroza the Pottery Studio
The joys of Arita, the pottery town, extend beyond shopping, strolling and learning about ceramics.
You can also have fun making pottery yourself!
The pottery studio Rokuroza, located in the Izumiyama district, is a special place where you can create your own Arita ware using specialist clay on a potter’s wheel, as well as try your hand at painting. Even beginners can easily enjoy this authentic pottery experience.

The workshop features six electric pottery wheels, a gas kiln for firing, and an electric kiln, allowing multiple people, such as friends or family, to participate together.
Friendly and experienced staff are always there to provide careful guidance, so first-timers can also try with confidence. Seeing your creation gradually take shape as you work with the clay is a truly special moment. Completing your very own unique piece is sure to create an unforgettable memory of your trip. Why not give shape to the feelings you experience in Arita?
Choose from two courses: wheel-throwing only or wheel-throwing and firing. If you’re unsure about wheel-throwing, consider trying the painting-only course instead.

The painting course offers three options: ①Teacups/bowls, ②coffee cups or ③items created during the wheel-throwing experience (You have to wait several weeks for the firing to be finished). Your finished pieces can be shipped to you later (express mail available).
The workshop is located about a 5-minute walk from Kami-Arita Station. The surrounding area features beautiful townscape with galleries, cafés and pottery studios. After your potter’s wheel experience, why not take a stroll through the old town to savor the charm?
