Arita Doll Festival (Hinamatsuri)2026

The 22nd “The Arita Hina Doll Festival” is held from February 7th to March 8th in Arita town. You can freely visit various kilns and shops where Hina doll decorations are displayed.
Here, we introduce one of them, Hina decoration at the Imaemon kiln in the Uchiyama area.

When you get into the entrance, you can see “Tsurushibina” (ornamental dolls) hanging on the eaves to the right side, and on the left you can find two plates which the Emperor and the Empress are painted on the upper row of the red felt carpet on the Hina steps. These plates were created by the 14th generation Imaemon using the technique of “Sumihajiki” (ink resist method) and platinum glaze.

Hina ornaments are placed in the middle row, and exquisitely crafted miniature products made of porcelain such as “Karako” (Chinese children), vases, figurines, etc. as well as a mallet are displayed on the bottom row.
Peach blossoms decorated on the left of the Hina steps create an atmosphere allowing you to feel the arrival of spring in the tranquility.

On Saturdays, Sundays, and national holidays, free Hina shuttle buses are available twice a day departing from 11:30 and 13:30, and you can enjoy guiding by Arita town guides on the bus.
Please come and celebrate the Hina Doll Festival in Arita town on an early spring day.
